Teaching Our Preschoolers
3 to 5 Years of Age

ICEC has designed a preschool program for children who receive limited services through
their school district. Using a developmental approach, the TOPS Preschool model
combines children with special needs with their typical peers in order to build
communication skills, school readiness and social skills.

TOPS Preschool is a Unique Program

• Low teacher to student ratio of 3:1
• Inclusion with typically developing children
• Staff includes professionals trained in child development, pediatric occupational
  therapists and speech/language pathologists
• Parents receive daily feedback which is important for praising and reinforcing
  appropriate choices
• Option available for one-hour extended activities

The TOPS Preschool curriculum is designed around hands-on themes which are
meaningful and fun for children. Our professional team is working together
to help our preschoolers become more independent in their daily lives.

The weekly schedule includes the following:

dramatic play * learning centers * social/communication
sensory/art/crafts * sand/water tables * computer programs
group games * music and movement * story time * school readiness
